Make Your Own Safe Deodorant!

It’s easy to use and you can add essential oils for an “essentially yummy smell”, if you want.Deodorant Recipe 

Ingredients: 

6-8 Tbsp Coconut oil (solid state)

1/4 cup bi Carb of soda

1/4 cup arrowroot powder or c (arrowroot is preferred)

Directions:

Combine equal portions of bi carb soda & arrowroot powder.

Slowly add coconut oil and work it in with a spoon or hand blender until it maintains a firm but pliable texture.

It should be about the same texture as commercial deodorant, solid but able to be applied easily. If it is too wet, add further arrowroot powder/cornstarch to thicken.

You can either scoop this recipe into your old deodorant dispensers or place in a small container with lid and apply with fingers with each use. Makes about 1 cup.

This recipe lasts about 3 months for two people with regular daily use.

Depression As A Gateway To Inner Peace

How can one possibly say that depression is a gateway to inner peace? When we are depressed, it feels like peace is something only enjoyed by others – never by ourselves. We feel as though we are stuck in this state forever, destined to feel awful. We wake up with a feeling of dread and go to bed feeling the same way.

Yet we can view depression as an experience that can assist us to evolve and to become more whole. This state of being alerts us to the fact that we have disconnected from who we really are and that something is not right with the way we perceive our reality.

When we are fully connected and are comfortable with who we are, and have self-love – there is little room to experience discordance. Life flows in a positive direction and we experience a deep sense of inner wellbeing. In the moments when life does throw us a curve ball, we know how to positively reframe the experience.

Depression as a Gateway to Inner Peace

In this way, depression can be viewed as a gift. It forces us to journey within to root out the illusions and negative/false beliefs we have created about our self. From here, we can make changes to our self-beliefs and the way we interact with others and our environment.

In days gone past, certain indigenous cultures viewed ‘mental illness’ as a spiritual initiation. Members of the tribe sat in ceremony with the sufferer, supporting them while they processed the unintegrated aspects of self. They journeyed with them as they experienced a shamanic death i.e. the death of the ego. The person experienced rebirth and a stronger whole sense of self.

It is a shame that the modern world views depression as a weakness and shuns those who experience its symptoms, because love and understanding is the key to healing.

Many of us cannot know true happiness and joy until we have known the depths of despair. It takes an enormous amount of courage to delve into ourselves to unravel who we are. When we understand and accept the dark and light sides of our nature, we grow and evolve in the most profound ways possible.

When we come out the other side of this process we experience extraordinary self-love and peace. The experience of depression can be a key that unlocks this door.

In our modern world, the conventional treatment for depression is via medication and engaging in therapy with a psychologist or psychiatrist. These conventional practices however, often only focus on the mind and emotions. A person with depression is encouraged to talk about how they feel and to explore solutions with the therapist. This approach can take years and many ‘clients’ remain stuck and frustrated in their experience of depression.

Magical Full Moon Aftermath

The full moon two nights ago was a wonder filled moon indeed. It was a wild day weather wise and we wondered if we would go outside at all. About 4:30pm I decided to make the fire, two squalls of rain came through however my fire decided it was going to burn. You can see the water laying on top of the pool blanket in the background! I called my friend and said the fire is alight despite the rain so over she cam one the sun had set.IMG_2130

We were treated to the fullness of the magic that the Sagittarius moon could bring, the cloud cover dispersed and the moon appeared in our sky. Shining luminously down upon us. We cast our circle using a combination of invocations from the ancient ways. We both offered and received blessings from all around in these realms and across the veils.

We were struck by the harmony and balance that poured into and expanded in all directions. The shape shifter from the spirit realms joined our circle and was working to heal our Earth mother changing the resonating frequency to a more harmonious mode. The Inca man stood watching and telling us keep doing the work we were doing. The balance that is created by casting a circle should not be underestimated. It is a perfect symmetry of energies and visions coming together, East-West, North-South, Above-Below all in perfect harmony working with each other across the circle as well as in the round. Never lose sight of the fact that small steps taken by caring people adds up to a mighty roar. We are a part of the bigger picture and sometimes can feel overwhelmed by the nasty news stories unfolding daily. However it is up to us all to hold love and hope in our hearts.

The photos were taken with me standing holding the camera, with the wrong lens… genuine photographers have nothing the fear from competition from me. What was spectacular were the number of orbs in the sky, you can clearly see  them in the photo below. The radiating gifts from the moon bestowed great wealth and peace within.

We closed our circle and the clouds came over, the winds that resonated and blew in the blessings continued to blow and then the rain came down to wash away all that no longer served us.

Chemical free body wash – yes you can make it!

Personally I read the ingredients on the back and they are scary. I cannot pronounce them and generally have no idea what they are…..

I make my own body butters so recently decided to add shower gel to the list.

Mix together – you can actually use the bottle you intend to keep in, just leave enough room to shake the ingredients together! Let is stand once mixed for about an hour. If you are using essential oils the aroma seems to infuse beautifully ready to burst out when you use your body wash.

3/4 cup of liquid castile soap
1/4 cup of raw, unfiltered honey
2 teaspoons of oil. You can choose grapeseed, jojoba, sweet almond, sesame, or olive oil
1 teaspoon of vitamin E oil
50 drops of essential oils (optional)

Enjoy! No more chemical storm in your bathroom.
